NORWICH – On Saturday, the Norwich Purple Tornado cross country teams hosted the Tornado 5000 at the Norwich High School, featuring Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton/Harpursville, Unadilla Valley/GMU, Edmeston/Morris, Lansing, Sidney, Southern Cayuga, Thomas A. Edison, and Windsor.

NHS:
Nic Sutton was the only male runner for the home team, where he finished fifth with a time of 17:55.64. Natalie Phillips led the Norwich girls with a 14th place finish with a time of 24:49.79 as Malea Sutton came in 24th (26:29.95) and Laci Zieno in 37th (33:03.60).
BGAH:
The BGAH cross country teams were fully stocked with plenty of talented runners for both the boys and girls.
Girls:
Madison Farberman led the Bears girls to a second place finish with a time of 21:17.45, behind the leader from ’s . Lelaenia Baldwin finished eighth with a time of 24:02.62 with teammate Jalyn Winans behind her in ninth place (24:03.45). Macey LaFever came in 13th place with a time of 24:47.88.
Gabby Gross had a 20th place finish with a time of 25:42.62 as Marissa Mayo followed in 21st (25:55.12) and Isabel Suda finished in 28th (27:05.77) to round out the girls’ scores.
Boys:
Owen Degan led all runners on the day with a first place finish with the fastest time of 16:56.98. Sean Fowler earned a top 10 finish with a time of 18:41.10. Ethan Beardslee just missed the top 10 as he finished 12th with a time of 19:05.32.
Jackari Garipoli ran to a 15th place finish with a time of 19:37.91 with Rowan Beasinger two spots behind in 17th (19:55.76) and Aiden Quick coming in with a 24th place finish (20:25.08).
My’Kel George finished 29th with a time of 21:13.81 with Mason Lans directly behind him in 30th with a time of 21:17.31 and Connor Rowe ran to a 50th place finish with a time of 26:14.29.
Edmeston/Morris:
Edmeston/Morris had one male runner compete, where Desmond Dai ran to a 47th place finish with a time of 25:12.29. The girls had great performances from Alayna Johnson, Marissa Adams, Emily Moran, Olivia Conklin, and Isabella White.
Johnson led the team with a 10th place finish with a time of 24:39.46 with Adams finishing just behind her in 11th (24:46.53) and Moran following Adams in 12th place (24:47.72).
Conklin ran to a 26th place finish with a time of 26:56.86 as White came in 29th with a time of 27:27.84.
UV/GMU:
The UV/GMU Storm cross country teams were equally represented with two boys and two girls competing. The girls were led by Andrea Favinger with a seventh place finish with a time of 23:56.12 as Kathleen Pizzuto came in 19th place (25:36.10). Jake Favinger finished ninth in the boys’ race with a time of 18:40.34 as Dominic Berthel finished 45th out of a total of 55 male competitors with a time of 24:50.69.
