BAINBRIDGE — On Thursday night, all eyes were on the final regular season matchup against the Oxford Blackhawks and the undefeated Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats girls’ soccer team. The Bobcats played their final home game of the regular season. Oxford pulled off the upset with a 1-0 shutout victory, ending B-G’s perfect record. Thursday’s contest was a non-league matchup, so it did not affect B-G’s unbeaten league record.

Oxford’s Kayla Knapp scored off an assist from Paige Rickard in the first half and after that, both teams battled and goalkeepers did not allow any further opportunities.

Oxford’s Jenna Denz had 10 saves in the win as B-G’s Danica Park made nine saves in goal.

“Witnessing the girls’ exceptional performance tonight was a delight,” Oxford’s Coach Rachel Seiler said following the game. “THie unyielding perseverance throughout the game was noteworthy. We expected tough competition from B-G, a team full of skilled players, and seeing our girls confront the challenge directly was highly impressive.”

Oxford finished the 2025 MAC schedule with a 5-2-1 record and are currently 9-2-1 overall.

The Lady Blackhawks head into the mini MAC tournament as the third seed and will play for a chance at another trip to the MAC Championship game on the road against Sidney on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
