GREENE – On Tuesday night, the Greene Trojans boys’ soccer team hosted neighboring Oxford for senior night. Greene recognized its seniors at halftime. Congratulations to Kenny Baucas, Alex Kehl, Seth Symons, and Shane Rideout. Greene celebrated its seniors in a big way with a 2-0 shutout victory.
Both teams battled back-and-forth defensively, making for a high intense game. Greene pumped up seven shots in the first half, making Oxford’s Kayden Renfrow work very hard. Two of those first half shots went in for goals for the Trojans.
Seth Symons scored for Greene off a forward pass from Paxson McCumiskey halfway through the first half. McCumiskey would find the net himself off a cross from Jackson Rice.
Both goals came in the first half with no score in the second half from either team.
Symons, Rideout, and McCumiskey kept firing away shots on goal with Jacob Acevado also seeing some good touches and breakaways.
Oxford’s Dawson Viele, Gordon Smith, and Paxton LaMonica took shots on goal, but Greene controlled most of the possessions. Greene’s Jackson Roth made three saves in net in the victory.
Oxford’s Kayden Renfrow made 13 saves in the loss.
Greene improves to 8-4 on the season and hosts BGAH on Thursday at 7 p.m. Oxford (5-7) awaits its next opponent at this time.
