Ithaca Teen Charged After Fleeing From Troopers In Vehicle

TOMPKINS COUNTY - On September 21 at approximately 12:20 a.m., New York State Police at Ithaca arrested a 17-year-old male from Ithaca, for the misdemeanors of Reckless Driving, Unlawful Fleeing of a Motor Vehicle in the third degree and Resisting Arrest.   Multiple traffic tickets were also issued. 

On September 20, 2025, around 11 p.m., Troopers and Tompkins County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a disturbance with at the Ellis Hollow Community Center on Genung Road in the town of Dryden.  

While Deputies from the Sheriff’s Department were investigating what occurred, a 17-year-old male left the area in an Audi A4 and failed to obey law enforcement commands,   sped off and fled the scene.  

A Trooper activated his emergency lights and attempted to stop the vehicle.  

The Trooper observed the 17-year-old driver committing numerous vehicle and traffic infractions and endangering the motoring public, while failing to pull over and stop for the Trooper. 

The driver ultimately stopped the vehicle in a driveway on Snyder Hill Road where a Trooper engaged with the driver who continued to fail to comply with lawful orders and resisted arrest. He was taken into custody by the Trooper and a Sheriff’s Deputy.

The 17-year-old was transported to SP Ithaca where he was checked out by EMS, issued a Family Court Appearance Ticket and turned over to a parent.
