Oxford girls’ soccer defeats Afton/Harpursville on Senior Night

OXFORD – The Oxford Blackhawks girls’ soccer team celebrated its 2025 seniors prior to kickoff against Afton/Harpursville on a wet Tuesday evening. Congratulations to Colette Kappauf, Lily Marshman, Emmalee Reiss, and Peyton Cummings. Oxford honored its seniors in a big way with a 8-0 shutout victory.

Paige Rickard led Oxford with a hat trick (3 goals) and had two assists as well. Kayla Knapp scored two goals while Emily Williams and Reese Tefft each scored a goal off the bench. Colette Kappauf, Ahnalee Kappauf, and Knapp also added assists in the win.

Afton/Harpursville saw touches from Jenna Wilson, Tabitha Charlette, Misty Bushaw, and Aisley Ruff. Ruff had two shots on goal while Wilson and Bushaw each had one.

Appalonia Bushaw was put to work in goal for the Crimson Knights, seeing over 30 shots on goal and made about 15 saves.

Oxford’s Jenna Denz saved shots faced in the second half while Reiss played goalkeeper in the first half.

“The team played a great game tonight,” Oxford’s coach Rachel Seiler said. “It was great to see the girls bounce back after last night’s loss. We focused on creating passing lanes, moving without the ball, and our first touches were much improved.”

Seiler also complimented how much improvement Afton has made lately.
