NORWICH — After a lengthy wait for much needed renovations, the county-owned Lt. Warren E. Eaton Airport will begin construction on the administration building and hangar in the spring of 2026.

According to official documents, Chenango County is wielding a $200,000 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) to fund renovations to the airport’s administration building, and an additional $237,654 grant from the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) for repairs to the jet hangar.

“Currently we have completed the engineering and designs for the administration building and are working on the contracting component,” said Shane Butler, Director of Chenango County Department of Planning and Development.

Butler also noted the jet hangar design drawing is 60% complete and anticipates a final design soon, in order to issue a Request For Proposal.

He said the administration building will have remodeled interior space including an ADA compliant bathroom and walkways, new heating and cooling units, new windows and doors, and more.
