OXFORD - The Oxford Farmers’ Market will be celebrating Chenango County’s First Annual Open Farm Day this Saturday right along with all the hard working farmers who vend at the Market throughout the summer and winter months, some of whom will also be opening their farms for the day to partake in this great new event. By celebrating our local farms and farmers, we recognize the crucial role they play in caring for the land and growing the food that sustains us. When we know where our produce and meats and dairy and eggs come from, that knowledge turns commodities into labors of love, and turns our consumption of them into an act of gratitude for those labors and those nourishments.

Vendors this Saturday will have an abundance of locally-grown fruits, vegetables and mushrooms; locally raised and processed beef, pork, lamb and chicken; gorgeous cut flowers and flowering plants; chicken, duck and turkey eggs;  local cheeses; fresh baked goods; locally-sourced crackers and grain products; fudges, and jams; local hard ciders; maple syrup and honey; hand-made healthy treats for dogs; hand-made soaps, lotions and balms; and items for the kitchen and home. Every product straight from a local  source and the skilled hands of your neighbors.  Thru the month of September, 9 am - noon on  Lafayette Park.

And this week, folk fiddler John Potocnik and Kathy Shimberg will be back performing in the Bandstand.

The Market is open 9 a.m. to noon. Music in the Bandstand start at 10 a.m.
