Norwich Girls Swim Team Opens 2025 Season At Waverly

WAVERLY - The Norwich Purple Tornado girls swim team traveled to Waverly on Thursday, August 28 for their first meet of the 2025 season.

Norwich returned many of its core swimmers who look for a strong season, where they anticipate dropping individual best times.

Freshman Alexandra Shtrauch led Norwich with a first place finish in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:22.55 as Brynn Meek took fifth with a time of 3:01.11.

Shtrauch also earned the top finish in the 500 freestyle with the fastest time of 6:36.35.

Senior Mikayla Sastri finished second in the 200 individual medley with a personal best time of 2:44.43, behind the leader's 2:42.60. Sastri also took second in the 100 butterfly with a new best 1:20.60.

Raeley Patterson achieved a personal best in the 50 freestyle with a time of 37.54 seconds.

Olivia Palmer, Jillian Petrie, and Brynn Meek all swam in the 100 freestyle. Palmer earned a third place finish with Petrie in fourth and Meek in fifth.

Petrie came in third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:23.48 as Patterson finished second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:50.78 to round out the events.

Norwich hosts Sus Valley for the 2025 home opener at the NHS pool on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
