ENDICOTT – The Norwich Purple Tornado golf team opened its 2025 season at the 30th annual Nick DiNunzio Memorial Tournament, held at En-Joie Golf Course in Endicott. Norwich placed fourth with a team score of 415, finishing behind Vestal (390), Maine-Endwell (401), and Binghamton (404).

Eighth grader Brevin Bennett, fresh off a victory at the Canasawacta Country Club member-guest this past summer, claimed tournament medalist honors with the low round of 69. Sophomore Matthew Brunick, recently named the 2025 Scoville-Meno TCGA Junior Tour Player of the Year, also cracked the top nine with a score of 78.

Sophomore Gavin Burrell carded an 83, while teammate Charlie Smith shot a 92. Junior Jacob Lobdell followed with a 93, and senior Michael Brunick rounded out Norwich’s lineup with a 97.

The Tornado return to action this afternoon, visiting Waverly at Shephard Hills Golf Course for a 2 p.m. tee time.
