EARLVILLE — The Earlville Opera House (EOH), located at 18 East Main Street in Earlville, will be hosting a beginners' bookbinding class from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 13 in their Art Room.
Class size is limited to 12 people, and individuals must register by September 11. Tickets are $22 for EOH members and residents of Earlville, or $25 for non-members, and can be purchased at EarlvilleOperaHouse.com.
The class will be taught by local artist Riley Webster. Webster was the 2024 Featured Artist for the Sherburne Arts Festival, and the featured artist for the Colorscape Chenango Arts Festival Billboard Challenge during his senior year of high school.
"Knowing about all of [Webster's] skills, we called upon him to do this unique class. This will be the first time we’re doing a class like this," said EOH Executive Director Michelle Connelly. "We try to really get different hooks to engage different types of people instead of just the same old stuff like painting and this and that. Let’s do some things that people might be like, 'hey, this is different, let’s try that.'"
All supplies will be provided, and participants will walk away with a finished, hand-bound book at the end of the class. Connelly said individuals can also bring their own old books or book covers they wish to use.
