NORWICH — City of Norwich Police Chief Reuben Roach's upcoming retirement is set for September 2, marking 20 years of service to the community.

On Friday, elected officials, judges, city employees and law enforcement personnel gathered at the Norwich Police station to congratulate Roach on a successful and dedicated career.

Roach was recognized as a positive community leader and speakers said they valued him for his open and understanding approaches to issues. They said he always offered respectful and humane treatment of those he and his staff worked with.

NY State Assemblyman Joe Angelino and Chenango County Undersheriff Dustin Smietana presented the New York State Assembly Citation of Service to Roach.

The citation noted Roach’s 20 year career and his excellence as an individual that went beyond expectations and earned the appreciation of many New York State residents.

“I wish Chief Roach well in his retirement. He reached the pinnacle of law enforcement by commanding a police department,” said Angelino.
