NORWICH – The 9th annual Savannah Marie Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund Golf Fundraiser was held on Saturday, August 9 at the Canasawacta Country Club. The fundraiser continues to honor Norwich 2016 alum Savannah Williams who tragically passed away in 2016. Her family and friends keep her memory alive by hosting the golf outing, where about 18 teams played. Everything Bagelry out of Bainbridge, NY returned to serve free bagels to the golfers and committee.
“The scholarship fund is still going well,” Mark Williams said on the behalf of the Williams family. “We are still giving away $2000 scholarships to two Norwich seniors in Savannah’s memory, especially to a student who is going to SUNY Geneseo for Sciences and one for a student that’s proven themselves and is community driven. We also had to consolidate this year unlike years past with having dinner and raffles in the Country Club instead of the pavilion, but that’s ok- Savannah’s memory is still with us and we’re still going strong.”
The Williams family, along with the Savannah Marie Williams Scholarship Committee, thanks everyone for coming out and playing for Savannah and hopes to see everyone back next year for the 10th year.
