OXFORD — The Oxford Memorial Library, located at 8 Fort Hill Park in Oxford, is finishing up their "Color Our World" Summer Reading Program with two more activities and a finale event.
On Tuesday, August 5, they will be hosting the final Teen Tuesday program in the Summer Reading Program from 3 to 4 p.m. Participants will learn how to make mini beaded plants and plant hangers.
"We’re going to be using wire, beads, and pipe cleaners, and mini terra cotta pots to create these faux plants," explained Oxford Memorial Library Director Gillian Mulder. "[They're] great for anyone who doesn’t have a green thumb or if you want to stick it in an office or something."
Although the activity is geared toward teens, Mulder said all ages are welcome to participate.
The next activity will be two sessions of an adult craft workshop from 10 to 11 a.m. and 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 8.
The activity will be painted book bricks, where attendees can paint normal-sized bricks or garden pavers to look like they're favorite novel, a children's book, or a book they've made up.
"I am very excited for the book bricks," said Mulder. "You can put it in your own garden or participants will be able to leave their book brick to be used in the library’s garden. We have a little bit of a fun garden library situation outside."
