NORWICH – The Chenango County Office of Emergency Services (OES) is moving ahead on plans to build a new radio tower on East Hill in the Town of Norwich.
The agency put the project out to bid in May and, having received three qualifying bids for tower construction, will seek approval of county officials to award a bid at the August meeting of the Chenango County Board of Supervisors.
Blueprints for the state grant-funded project include a 160-180 foot tower and shelter for radio equipment on County Road 36, east of the City of Norwich.
After disqualifying certain bids for noncompliance of project specifications, OES submitted proposals for review from the New York State Technology Enterprise Corporation, a nonprofit technology consulting company that works with governmental agencies.
