NY State Police Investigate Death Of 16-year-old In Cortland County

McGRAW - The New York State Police are investigating a death of a 16-year-old female following a medical emergency that occurred at a private residence in the town of Cortlandville.  

On Saturday, July 26 at approximately 8:30 p.m., a Trooper from SP Homer responded to a residence on State Route 41 in McGraw after Cortland County 911 received a report of an unresponsive juvenile. Upon arrival, troopers located a 16-year-old female unconscious in a bathroom. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was already in progress.

The trooper performed life saving measures. EMS personnel and TLC Ambulance personnel continued lifesaving efforts while enroute to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center. Unfortunately, the female did not survive and was pronounced deceased a short time later.  

An investigation led by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) is ongoing.   No further information is being released at this time pending autopsy results and continued investigation.
