NORWICH — The Chenango Arts Council, located at 27 W. Main St. in Norwich, held a gallery exhibit on Saturday featuring artwork done by students in the City of Norwich Youth Bureau summer art programs.
Approximately 20 Chenango County youth aged 11 to 18 spent five weeks participating in a drawing and painting class and/or a mosaic art class.
Students in the drawing and painting class learned how to sketch with charcoals, how to sketch with an eye toward painting, and how to paint with acrylics. Students in the mosaic class learned about the ancient art of mosaic and created their own pieces.
The programs culminated in a one-night gallery exhibit in the Mariea Brown and Raymond Loft Galleries in the Chenango Arts Council.
"[It was] a good chance to see how much the students have learned in the art classes and support young kids showing in a gallery for the first time," said Chenango Arts Council Administrative Assistant Mary Beth Miller.
