NORWICH - Ithaca-based band John Brown's Body will be performing in the NBT Bank Free Summer Concert Series in Norwich's East Park at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 24.
The American reggae band was formed in the mid-1990s by founding members Kevin Kinsella, Tommy Benedetti, and Lee Hamilton, plus members from past lineups, including Nate Edgar on bass, Jon Penlonzio on keys, and TJ Schapar on trombone. Longtime friend of the band Van Gordon Martin has also joined the band on stage for the first time.
According to the band's bio on JohnBrownsBodyMusic.com, their music is "steeped in traditional vibes but unapologetically incorporating elements from other genres."
John Brown's Body became one of the few US reggae bands to tour nationally, with early recordings charting #1 on Billboard and iTunes charts.
After a several-year hiatus from touring and the studio, the band has reformed and begun touring again to celebrate their 30th anniversary.
