SIDNEY – After a strong summer season, finishing second in the A division, the Norwich PONY league team fell 14-4 to Sidney on the road in the quarterfinals. Norwich ended the 2025 Otsenango PONY league season with a 6-4 record and will prepare for the All-Star game on July 29.
Both teams got on the board in the first with Norwich scoring two runs early. Bo Brown led the inning off with a single to center field as Pierce Sherman drew a walk. Brayden Lawrence loaded the bases with a one out single to right field. Brown came in to score on a steal of home during Blayne Sutton’s at-bat and Sherman stole home on Luke Water’s at-bat.
Sidney answered back with four runs in the bottom of the first to take a 4-2 lead. Norwich got one back in the third to cut the deficit to one on Bo Brown scoring on a wild pitch. However, Sidney extended their lead with three runs in the bottom of the third and scored six runs in the fourth inning.
Both teams scored one final run in the fifth inning as Brayden Lawrence drove in Joey Parker, who singled with two outs, on a single to right field.
Lawrence led the team with two hits and an RBI as Joey Parker, Pierce Sherman, and Bo Brown all singled in the loss.
Lawrence started on the mound for Norwich, going 2.1 innings, allowing six earned runs on four hits, and four walks. Bo Brown came in to relieve Lawrence and went 1.1 innings, allowing seven unearned (one earned) runs on five hits, three walks, and struck out two batters. Luke Waters worked the final two-thirds, allowing one earned run on two hits, two walks, and had a strikeout.
