BAINBRIDGE – After finishing first in the B division, the Oxford Blackhawks PONY League team faced off against Bainbridge in the quarterfinals. Oxford, as the home team, advanced to the semifinals with a big 17-1 victory over the Bolts.

Oxford got on the board early in the bottom of the first with a four-run inning. Joey Locke led off the inning with a single and came in to score in the next play as Degan Endress doubled to center. Uri Tracy brought home Endress with a single to left. Conner Dunagan, who drew a walk, scored on an RBI single by Korbin Sampson. A fielder’s choice brought in another run.

The Blackhawks extended their lead in the second to go up 8-0. The Bolts answered back with their only run in the top of the third. Mason Acquisto doubled to left field on an 0-2 count as Bainbridge’s only hit of the game. Acquisto scored on Davis Barnard’s fielder’s choice.

Oxford added on in the bottom of the third and in the fourth inning and kept the Bolts off the board from there.

The Blackhawks scored 17 runs on nine hits. Degan Endress led the team with three hits and four RBIs. Uri Tracy and Korbin Sampson both had two hits as Tracy drove in three runs and Sampson with two RBIs. Bodie Barrows also drove in two runs and singled.

Oxford also drew 11 walks with Adam Beckwith, Conner Dunagan, and Joey Locke both walking twice.

Mason Acquisto had the lone hit for the Bolts with Davis Barnard driving him home as the team’s only RBI. The Bolts drew six walks, reached on a hit by pitch, and on errors.

Aidan Haynes, Frank Parsons, and Cullen Benjamin split time on the mound for Bainbridge. Haynes went two innings, allowing 10 runs (eight earned) on five hits four walks, and struck out five batters. Parsons replaced Haynes with runners on base in the third. Parsons allowed three earned runs and three walks. Benjamin took over in the third and finished the game, allowing four earned runs on four hits, four walks, and one strikeout.

Uri Tracy got the start for Oxford and was credited the win through 4.1, allowing just the one unearned run on one hit, four walks, and struck out nine batters. Josh Knapp got the two final outs in the fifth, allowing two walks, and had one strikeout.

Oxford advances to the semifinals, where they will face off against first place Delhi from the C division on Saturday at noon at SUNY Oneonta. Good season, Bainbridge.
