NORWICH – The spotlight flashed on nine local students during a meeting of the county board of supervisors on Monday as local legislatures applauded each student's creativity in the annual Chenango County Traffic Safety Committee poster contest.

The contest is open to K-12 students in any Chenango County school. This year’s poster theme focused on pedestrian and bicycle safety.

The contest, sponsored by NBT Insurance Agency, offers a first-place prize of $150 to the student who meets all outlined criteria in their poster design. Second place winners receive $75; and third place gets $50.

Winners are chosen from two different grade categories: grades K-4; grades 5-8; and grades 9-12.

“All the award winners did an excellent job of demonstrating the required criteria of the work they submitted,” said Traffic Safety Committee Chair Daniel Grady. “On behalf of the committee, I would like to thank all the participants and the parents for taking time to focus on this important topic.”
