Rogers Center Welcomes Artist And Teacher Branden Law To Host Summer Art Program

SHERBURNE - A new artist is coming to Rogers! Much to the excitement of the Rogers Center staff and the artist community at large, Branden Law, local art teacher and scientific illustrator, will be sketching, painting, and teaching at Rogers Center this summer.

Every other Wednesday and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., starting July 16th and July 19th, members of the public are invited to join Branden at various locations throughout Rogers to learn about his body of work, see him in action painting, and experience the thrill of combining art and science through creative exploration. July 16th and July 19th, at the Visitors Center from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

July 30th and August 2nd, at the Farm Tower from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

August 13th and August 16th, at Cush Hill from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

August 27th, at Adams Farm from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

During his time at Rogers, Branden will create five scientific illustrations of native pollinator species to help inform the pollinator habitat restoration project now underway. "I look forward to combining my two biggest passions into one incredible project,” Branden said. “The intersection of art and education informs both my professional life as an art teacher at Norwich High School, and my artistic life as a scientific illustrator.”

Rogers Center is one of New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s (DEC) four environmental education centers. DEC Environmental Education Bureau Chief Tom Shimalla stated, “Branden’s artistic skills and educational philosophy are a solid match for the Rogers Center.”

The mission of the Friends of Rogers is to provide outstanding educational opportunities that excite, inspire, and motivate people of all ages to enjoy, understand, appreciate, and protect our natural environment.
