WHITNEY POINT – The Norwich Post 189 Legion ball team traveled to Whitney Point for a matchup against George F. Riordan. Norwich came home with a 6-3 victory. Norwich looks to sweep the series against George F. Riordan on Saturday in the summer season finale.

George F. Riordan took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on an error. After a scoreless second and third inning, Norwich got on the board in the top of the third to take a 2-1 lead.

Connor White reached on an error to start the inning and Zac Turner was hit by the pitch before White and Turner pulled off the double steal. Both came in to score on Owen Olds two-run double.

Norwich kept George F. Riordan off the board to extend their lead in the top of the fourth to go up 4-1.

Two back-to-back walks led off the inning before two outs. Zac Turner drove in two on a single to left field.

The score remained 4-1 until both teams scored two runs in the final seventh inning.

Kolbey Redenback walked to start the seventh as Connor White singled. Both came in to score on a one-out, two-run single to right field by Owen Olds. Olds finished with two hits and a team-high four RBIs.

Connor White also had two hits as Zac Turner had the two-run single. Troy Schack and Colin Olds contributed with hits while Gavin Brown walked twice in the win.

Braden Reid earned the start, going six and two thirds, allowing three unearned runs on two hits, four walks, and struck out seven batters. Colin Olds got the final out in the bottom of the seventh on a groundout.

Norwich (2-8) closes out the 2025 summer season against George F. Riordan at home on Saturday at noon.
