CHENANGO COUNTY – The 2025 Chenango Chargers Soccer Program finished off its season in late spring, where it saw eight teams compete in the Broome County Spring Soccer League. These teams played against teams from Ithaca, Binghamton, Corning, Oneonta, and others located in the Southern Tier and Northern Pennsylvania.

Out of the eight teams, the 12 and under girls competed in division 2 against Oneonta, Vestal, Cooperstown, and Cortland. These girls went undefeated this season, winning the division. Congratulations, ladies.

The 12 and under boys finished third in division 2 with two wins, two ties, and a few losses against Greater Binghamton, Cortland, WNY Flash, Ithaca Youth Soccer, and Soaring Capital Soccer.

The 14 and under boys competed in division 3, where they finished fifth and stayed competitive all season. They competed against Cortland, Oneonta, Ithaca, Hiawatha, and Vestal.

The 16 and under, as well as the 19 and under girls, both competed in division 1, against teams such as Greater Binghamton, Ithaca, Corning, Oneonta, Taughannock, and Soaring Capital. These ladies fought hard all season and showed constant improvement throughout the season.

The Chenango Chargers also had two 10 and under Co-ed teams. Each team played in a separate division, but played against Greater Binghamton Soccer, Ithaca, Oneonta, WNY Flash, and a handful of other teams.

“We’re really happy with how those two teams performed. That age group doesn’t specifically track scoring. But both teams performed really well and excelled against teams with much larger player pools,” Chenango Chargers Club President Dan O’Reilly said.

The Chargers are also showing strength with their youth players, especially with having the largest eight and under team ever this year. They played a tournament almost every weekend this spring around the Southern Tier and they really played well against big clubs.

“Overall, our club is extremely happy with how we performed this spring. Our players may come from small communities, but our teams really stood toe-to-toe with the larger clubs,” O’Reilly added. “We’re very thankful to the parents, players, and volunteer coaches who dedicate their time to expand the sport in our community. Our club wouldn’t exist without them. We’re hoping to grow our program even more in the next few months and ultimately field more team’s next spring.”

The Chenango Chargers Soccer Club is also offering a soccer camp the week of July 14th at our field complex in Oxford - information for this can be found through the club's Facebook page.

Great job, everyone.
