GILBERTSVILLE - At the last meeting of Butternut Valley Grange, Gilbertsville, officers for the next two years were elected as follows: President, Lynne Porter; Overseer: David Stoy; Lecturer, Cathy Galley; Steward, Nathan Lull; Assistant Steward, Calvin Wilcox; Lady Assistant Steward, Anne Sebeck; Chaplin, Marlene Brooks; Treasurer, Robert Evans; Recording Secretary, Roberta Halbert; Corresponding Secretary, Roger Halbert; Gatekeeper, Valerie Haynes; Ceres, Sandra Stoy; Pomona, Barbara Rossanda; Flora, Paula Evans, Executive Committee Member for three years, Barton Snedaker. Continuing Members of the Executive Committee are Victoria Gregory and James Young; Flag Bearer, John Rossanda. These officers will be installed during the July 14 meeting.

Other business in June was the draping of the charter, following the passing of 75 year member, Irmabelle Sheldon. Anna Ritchey reported that 130 diners enjoyed the Grange prepared meal for the Share the Bounty project at Sacred Heart Church in Sidney recently. About 200 attended the “Eat Your Way Thru the Alphabet” activity at Unadilla Valley School during which the Grange represented the letter “G” serving grapes The Grange also voted to financially support the Nate Lull Scholarship Fund at the annual golf tournament in July.

Barbara Rossanda heads up the committee for the Grange’s participation in Unadilla Days. Dates have been established for the Grange’s pie baking sales throughout the summer. Questions about the homemade pies or for ordering pre-sale, which is the only way for pies to be purchased this year, may be directed to Roberta Halbert, 782-2445.

The Grange voted Lynne Porter and Cathy Galley to serve as Butternut Valley’s delegates at the annual State Grange Convention in Watertown in October.

Roger Halbert, Legislative Chair, urged members to contact the Governor to pass legislation recommended by the Senate and Assembly that would prohibit businesses from being cashless, allowing customers to pay for service/goods with cash. Printed info to educate members on the subject was distributed.

Nate Lull and Anne Sebeck will be greeting early arrivals for some light snacks prior to the meeting on Monday, July 14 at 7 p.m.
