CHENANGO COUNTY – The public will have a chance to weigh-in on a state funding application submitted by Chenango County for the purpose of improving local housing, public facilities and infrastructure, and economic development.
The Chenango County Planning and Economic Development Committee has called a public hearing to be held at 10:40 a.m. Monday, July 14, inside the Board of Supervisors’ Chambers in Norwich to hear public feedback on the application for community development block grant (CDBG) funding for the 2025 program year.
CDBG funds are awarded to counties and municipalities each year. Funding comes by way of the New York State Office of Community Renewal to help improve local communities with a principal purpose of benefiting low to moderate income individuals.
Utilization of CDBG money can benefit a wide scope of projects, from drinking water and sanitary sewer projects, to home repair or senior and community center improvements, to grants for small business start-ups and expansions.
