NORWICH — Last month, Aunt Mary’s House (AMH), the non-profit organization supporting women in a crisis situation, approved an application for their first guest and 15 community volunteers shared in final touch preparations.

AMH Executive Director Brenda White said before their guest arrived, they had a full day of organizing totes of clothing, diapers, and household goods and stocking shelves with canned goods, baby food, and more.

“Our first guest moved into AMH on May 27 and has been settling in very well,” said White. “We're so excited to have her there and see her growing and flourishing.”

White said volunteers have recently helped the guest with cooking baking, discussing birthing options, painting, yard work, and more.

With the onset of summer, AMH looks forward to continuing the momentum, approving applications and adding additional guests to fill the home.

White said applications are available on the website at tinyurl.com/guestappl and they hope to fill the three additional rooms with love and laughter as soon as possible.

Beyond filling the house with guests, White said they continue to look for volunteers and had their first volunteer orientation/training on June 19.

Three separate days were filled with 3-hour sessions for volunteers to review the Policy and Procedure Manual and discuss volunteer opportunities.
