NORWICH - On June 21, under sunny skies and warm temperatures, families and friends visited the annual Dairy Day event at the Norwich Fairgrounds.

The event started at 10 a.m. with scores of local residents turning out to learn all about the dairy industry and sample a few dairy products.

Assemblyman Joe Angelino and Chenango County Farm Bureau (CCFB) President Terry Ives visited with visitors and celebrated everything dairy.

Angelino noted it was a beautiful day for the crowds to learn about the dairy industry and to enjoy the Dairy Day activities.

CCFB President and Dairy Day Committee Member Terry Ives said, “Dairy Day was a success. It was relaxing to watch people sit and enjoy the Norwich City Band.”

“The kids had fun with the bale maze as always,” he continued. “Face painting was very popular too.”

Ives said a few people asked about the farm animals as the animals arrived a little later than expected.

“People were asking about the live animals before they arrived,” he said. “Someone had to get their chores done at home first.”

Once the animals were brought in, families flocked to the farm petting zoo and children leaned in for close inspections, petting their heads and smiling back at the animals.
