NORWICH – The skies over Chenango County will come alive on Saturday, June 14 as Lt. Warren E. Eaton Airport hosts its annual Airport Day celebration. This exciting, family-friendly event is free to the public and offers something for aviation enthusiasts of all ages.
Event Highlights:
Whiskey 7, the historic WWII C-47 aircraft made famous during the D-Day invasion, will be on display and open for tours, as well as rides available for purchase. Reserve your flight today at www.nationalwarplanemuseum.com/fareharbor.
FLX Helicopters will be showcasing their aircraft and services, paid rides are also available.
Fly N66 will offer Discovery Flights – an opportunity for aspiring pilots to take to the skies and experience flying firsthand are also available for purchase.
The EAA Young Eagles Program will provide free flights for youth ages 8–17, introducing the next generation to the world of aviation. Parent or guardian signature on approved forms is required to register for a flight.
A thrilling RC Air Show from Spirit of Flight will feature high-performance radio-controlled scale F-16 demonstrating aerial acrobatics and precision flying.
The event will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with free admission and free parking for all attendees. A variety of local food vendors will be on site offering food and beverages for purchase, including a Chicken BBQ from Columbus Public House, JPanzo Hot Dogs, The Donut Hut and Bakery, and Ye Olde Bubble Tea and More.
“This is our favorite event of the year,” said Shane Butler, Airport Administrator. “It’s a great way for the community to come together, explore aviation up close, and enjoy a fun day at the airport.”
Before heading up to Airport Day, make sure to stop by East Park to celebrate the Norwich Hometown Heroes Banner Installation Ceremony beginning at 10 a.m.. All veterans who attend the Banner Ceremony, who then visit Airport Day, will be eligible to win one of two complimentary rides on Whiskey 7, sponsored by Clear Path for Veterans.
Lt. Warren E. Eaton Airport is located at 6390 State Highway 12, Norwich, NY. The event is rain or shine, and some aircraft and demonstrations are weather dependent.
