GILBERTSVILLE – The Gilbertsville-Mount Upton’s Board of Education is pleased to announce that it agreed to offer Mrs. Heather Wilcox the position of Superintendent of Schools following community forum presentations June 2, 2025, at the GMU Auditorium.

Wilcox is a Gilbertsville native and GMU graduate who has spent the last 13 years with the school district, first as a school counselor, then as dean of students, and currently as PK-12 principal.

Pending the successful negotiation of a contract, the Board of Education will appoint Wilcox as GMU’s next superintendent during an upcoming Board meeting. Her anticipated start date is August 1, 2025 – one day after Mrs. Annette Hammond is set to retire from her position as GMU’s superintendent.

GMU’s Board thanks members of the school community who provided feedback during the search for our next superintendent. This valuable feedback helped inform the Board of the qualities and characteristics our community expected to see in our next Superintendent and, rest assured, we have found them all in Wilcox.

We look forward to your support of our new superintendent and, as always, appreciate the continued support of the GMU Central School District.
