Norwich Track Competes In Section IV, Class B Championship

ENDICOTT – On Wednesday, the Norwich Purple Tornado track and field teams traveled to Union-Endicott High School to compete in the Section IV, Class B championship. The Purple Tornado boys and girls finished fourth. Vestal boys and girls swept the meet to win Class B. Full results can be found on ny.milesplit.com.

Girls’ Track:

Reagan Decker, Mckenzie Hagenbuch, Layla Root, and Tristan Monroe led the girls’ 4x100 meter relay team to a fourth place finish with a time of 55.80 seconds.The Norwich girls’ 4x800 meter relay team also came in fourth place with a time of 10:59.73.

Hagenbuch earned a third place finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:32.26 behind two Vestal girls, with senior Annie Boland in sixth with a time of 2:49.35.

Tristan Monroe took fifth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:08.90 while Emma Larmon finished seventh in the 200 meter dash with a time of 31.96 seconds.

Layla Root earned a sixth place finish in the girls’ 100 meter dash with a time of 14.20 seconds while Emma Larmon finished ninth with a time of 15.34 seconds. Laci Zieno finished eighth in the 1500 run with a time of 7:53.19.

Girls’ Field:

Norwich’s Natalie Phillips is a Section IV, Class B champion as she came away with the victory in the pole vault with a mark of six feet, six inches.
