NORWICH — Earlier this month, the Norwich High School (NHS) held their annual Spirit Week with the theme "Y2K Reloaded."

Daily dress-up themes were based on the 2000s, including Icon Day (dress as your favorite 2000's icon), Dress As Your Younger Self Day, Denim Day, Iconic Duo Day, and Purple versus White.

Students and staff were split into two teams: Purple and White, with freshman and seniors on the Purple Team, sophomores and juniors on the White Team, and teachers and staff split between the two teams.

Throughout the week, students had the opportunity to participate in activities to earn their teams points, including a daily 2000s-based trivia question; an attendance award where teams with the least amount of tardies to school could earn points; and a surprise trivia game where teachers and staff provided photos of themselves from the 2000s, and students had to guess who was who.

NHS Pep Club Co-Advisor Marie Loughren said Spirit Week is all about team spirit, and the week of events culminated in a Pep Rally on Friday, where teachers and staff battled it out for their teams in games such as a relay race, dodgeball, tug of war, and more.

Students also got in on the action at Spirit Night, where they participated in several games, including a relay race, egg toss, tug of war, dodgeball, mattress surfing, Fear Factor, and more.
