SHERBURNE – On Friday, the Sherburne-Earlville Timberwolves flag football team hosted OnTech Charter for the Section III, Class C semifinals, with only three teams in the class. It took three overtimes for S-E to come out on top 18-12 to advance to play Oneida in the sectional final for a chance to play for a championship in their first year as a program.
“ We’re very excited,” Coach Bob Carhart said, who sported pink nails after losing a bet with his player Aubrey Davis. “ We played very well together as a team. The stats were close all season against tough teams and we’re ready for a challenge on Tuesday.”
Coach Steve Franklin reminded the girls that they have to be locked in because now they’re playing for a championship.
After both teams went back-and-forth on drives without a score, S-E got on the board first with 5:51 remaining in the first half. Kari Lagoe found Morgan Mikalunas on a third and goal for about a nine-yard reception. The conversion pass fell incomplete.
