SOUTH OTSELIC — The Otselic Valley Fishing and Heritage Association (OVF&HA) invites all to their 16th annual free Fishing and Heritage Day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, May 17, located in the South Otselic community. The OVF&HA is in partnership with the South Otselic Fish Culture Station and Gladding Braided Products, LLC to provide many popular activities and a shuttle bus will provide ease traveling among the five community locations of events.
The all day fishing event is free and does not require a fishing license. Bait will be provided. Participants can bring a pole or use one provided by the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC).
“It’s great to have this day-long event to highlight the enjoyment and history of fishing along the Otselic River,” said OVH&HA Chair Tom Neal. “But the day will be filled with so much more than just fishing: arts, vendors, historical and informational displays, games, food, and entertainment will all be part of the celebration.”
“This gathering, annually on the third Saturday in May, has tremendous impact on the community of South Otselic and the surrounding areas and people look forward to it each spring,” Neal said.
“We can’t say thank you enough to the countless sponsors and volunteers who help make this event possible,” he added.
OVF&HA Vice-Chair Michael Foor-Pessin said the event represents what is best in building and sustaining vibrant communities along the Otselic River.
