NORWICH — Local musician and music teacher Nate Gross will be taking the stage in the Martin W. Kappel Theater at the Chenango Arts Council for "Nate Gross’ All-Star Celebration of the Fender Stratocaster" at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 17.

The show will be an experience of music influenced by the Fender Stratocaster, featuring songs by Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Holly, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, David Gilmour, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and more.

"Ever since the Fender Stratocaster hit the market in 1954, it revolutionized the music industry all across the world. Musicians were able to make new sounds, creating new genres that are still pushing sonic limits today," said Gross.

"The Stratocaster was the guitar Jimi Hendrix played at Woodstock. Bob Dylan 'went electric' with a Stratocaster at Newport. Buddy Holly hit the airwaves with his hard strumming Stratocaster sounds in the 50s, and Eddie Van Halen modified his Stratocasters into fire-breathing monsters in the 80s. Some of our most influential guitar players in music history used this instrument to write the iconic soundtrack to the last half century."

Tickets are $20 per person and on sale now at ChenangoArts.org. Chenango Arts Council Administrative Assistant Mary Beth Miller said it will be open seating in the theater, meaning seats are taken on a first-come, first-served basis the night of the show.
