NEW BERLIN – On Monday, the Unadilla Valley Storm PONY League team hosted Schenevus for a divisional match-up. Both teams battled and UV held a brief lead at one time, but the Dragons took control in the latter part of the game. Schenevus earned the 17-7 win through six innings.

Schenevus got on the board early in the first with a run scored on a passed ball before extending their lead in the top of the second with three runs off a hit, bases-loaded walk, and an error.

Down 4-0, UV batted around in the bottom of the second inning to go ahead 7-4. The runs piled in with two outs with an RBI single from Nic Crandall, errors got runners on base and moved them around along with wild pitches. Reed Osborne had a bunt single, where three runs came in off errors, and a passed ball, before Zayne Dibbell drilled a RBI double deep to left field.

Schenevus cut the lead to 7-5 in the top of the third inning and kept UV quiet in the bottom half of the same inning and throughout the rest of the contest. The Dragons regained the lead in the top of the fourth inning, 10-7 and added on from there. UV did have runners in scoring position, but failed to plate another run to stay in the game.
