WHITNEY POINT – After opening the summer season on Monday, the Oxford Blackhawks Pony League team was back in action on Thursday on the road against Whitney Point. Whitney Point tied with Sherburne in the first game. Oxford pushed through with six runs in the fifth inning and held on, even when Whitney Point fought back in the final two innings, to secure the 8-6 victory.

Whitney Point got on the board in the first off a bases-loaded walk and that would be it for a while as Oxford kept them quiet until the latter part of the game. Oxford tied the game at one a piece in the top of the second inning on a sacrifice-fly by Eddie Ingraham.

The Blackhawks kept things rolling in the top of the fourth and fifth innings as they plated one in the fourth on an error. During their six-run fifth inning, Oxford saw solid batting all around. Nic Dodzweit did especially well throughout the entire game.

Coming off a solid performance on the mound on Monday, Dodzweit went 4-for-4 at the plate on Thursday night. He had two doubles, including a two-run double in the fifth. Errors scored two runs as Blake Barrows and Brent Hamilton both drove in runs with a single and a double.
