CHENANGO COUNTY – Commerce Chenango will host its annual awards Gala on Saturday evening, June 15, 2024, at the Canasawacta Country Club in Norwich. The Gala is a celebration of businesses and business owners chosen for their accomplishments and achievements this past year.

New this year, the Gala is on the weekend so attendees can enjoy the celebration without it feeling like an after-work obligation.

“I am looking forward to honoring our award recipients at our Gala celebration,” noted Commerce Chenango President & CEO, Sal Testani. “Not only will we honor the accomplishments and achievements of our distinguished award winners, but we will highlight and applaud their dedication to their businesses, employees, and Chenango County.”

The event begins with networking at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m., and the presentation of awards at 8 p.m. After the awards, attendees are invited to stay and enjoy entertainment by Syracuse's Letizia and the Z Band.

One of the most coveted awards, Entrepreneur of the Year, known as “The Sammy”, is given to an individual or business that illustrates creativity and imagination and has a strong entrepreneurial spirit.

Commerce Chenango wishes to thank Mark Golden of Golden Artist Colors for continuing the tradition of providing the Sammy Award, named after his father, Sam Golden, a true entrepreneur.

This year’s award will be presented to Rentals To Go.

Founded and headquartered in Norwich, Rentals to Go has gained significant momentum, evidenced by the 75 new employees added in the past year. They conduct business all over the United States and are constantly expanding their family business.

The Commitment to Community Award will be presented to Laral Management.

This award is given annually to the member whose mission and work visibly improve the quality of life in Chenango County. For over 50 years, this family has managed and developed real estate. Currently, they manage 12 complexes spanning 9 communities. In addition to the renowned Chenango Blues Festival, each summer they host a free Thursday concert series in Norwich’s East Park.

Blueox Energy in Oxford is the 2024 recipient of the Small Business of the Year.

The award is presented to a standout organization that exhibits excellence in their business practices with commitment to both ethical business practices and employee support.
