NORWICH — The City of Norwich Water Department has given a boil water notice due to a water main break. The city is actively working on the repair.

This Boil Water Notice only applies to all residents along State Highway 23 east of Route 32/990L and on Tara Green Lane, Edgewood Drive, and Thompson Road.

“It’ll be about another day for boiling, as we wait for two bacteriological tests to come back,” said Director of Environmental Health David Gorman.

Continue boiling water until the problem is fixed. All residents will be informed when tests show there is no longer a need to boil water.

The City of Norwich notes to bring tap water to a rolling boil, boil for one minute, and cool before using. Certified New York State Department of Health bottled water can also be used.

Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and preparing food until further notice.
