GREENE – Coming off a big win over Dryden on Saturday, the Greene Trojans softball team stayed home to face neighboring Oxford.

Both teams had been in challenging games lately and showed their toughness throughout Monday’s match-up. Oxford fought back late in the game, but Greene stood their ground to pick up the 9-5 win.

Greene got on the board with four runs in the first as Claire Flanagan reached on an infield single and moved to second on a bunt by Cali Knapp.

Flanagan reached third on a passed ball and would come in to score on a wild pitch. Knapp moved on more wild pitches and scored after tagging up on a ground out play. Two runs would follow as Dakota LeBlanc smacked a double to center field with two outs, stole third base, and scored on a wild pitch. Audra Doll drew a two-out walk, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on another to make it 4-0 Greene.

Greene added three more runs in the fourth inning as Doll drew another walk, stole second, and moved to third on a wild pitch. She came into score on Kenzie Button’s groundout RBI. Ahraya Whitt kept the inning going with a two-out single and Flanagan followed with her second of three hits on the day and Whitt came into score.
