NORWICH — The Norwich Theater Company will be holding auditions for their fifth annual "A Toast to Broadway" performance from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 19 and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 20 at the Martin W. Kappel Theater in the Chenango Arts Council building, located at 27 West Main Street in Norwich.

“A Toast to Broadway” is an annual cabaret-style performance in which an ensemble of local singers perform a selection of Broadway songs from various shows. Norwich Theater Company President Marty Kuhn said the show is an annual fundraiser for the company, and includes a cash bar, hors d'oeuvres, desserts, raffles, and a complimentary champagne toast.

"It’s a cabaret style, so it's not a stage show. The performers are right in the audience spending time with them when they’re performing. There's a little area that we can go to so they can see everyone, but we do go into the audience and sit with them, and it's really a fun night," said Kuhn.

"We try very, very hard to not have more than one song from a show in each fundraiser. We also, with a couple of exceptions, do not repeat songs from year to year," she added. "Our finale has stayed the same every single year, but other than that we pretty much change everything."

This year the Norwich Theater Company is seeking six male-presenting and six female-presenting performers to be a part of the show.
