WINDSOR – The Norwich Purple Tornado softball team, who was expected to host their home opener earlier this week, headed to Windsor to get Thursday’s game in with spotty conditions at home. Norwich fell to the Black Knights 9-0. Windsor scored seven runs in the first inning and added two additional runs in the fourth inning.

Norwich was unable to answer back with runs of their own, but had three base runners on the day. Ava-Rose Cirigliano and Caitlin Wetterhahn added one hit each while Shaelyn Rice was walked. Wetterhahn also stole two bases to get herself into scoring position.

Wetterhahn and Madalyn Quattrocchi split time on the mound with both ladies pitching three innings each. Quattrocchi started the game and struck out five batters while Wetterhahn added on to the total with three.

Norwich (0-4) is expected to host non-league opponent Delhi this evening at 5 p.m., weather permitting.
