SHERBURNE – After a two-year hiatus, Sherburne-Earlville softball is back and going strong with senior Haleigh Fisher back on the mound. Fisher, who had accomplished a no-hitter and recorded her 100th strikeout for the Unadilla Valley Storm last year, gave the S-E crowd their own gem on Wednesday afternoon against Adirondack. S-E starts the season 2-0 after wins against Little Falls and a 7-0 shutout win against Adirondack in the 2024 home opener. The success of Fisher on the mound brought out the bats for a smooth victory.

S-E’s Fisher was lights out in Wednesday’s game with pitching a gem of a no-hitter. While she now has a few on her belt, it was a school record for Sherburne-Earlville. Fisher allowed one base runner to a walk before striking out 21 batters. Head coach Gary Miller said it was the most dominating pitching performance that he’d ever seen. It was truly a wonderful sight to watch for the home team and crowd. Fisher has struck out 38 batters to start the season after striking out 17 in the first game on Tuesday.

Not to be outdone, but Fisher led the team with three hits, including an RBI single in the fourth inning to put S-E up 2-0. Teammate Emily Lawrence followed two batters in with the bases loaded and struck a clearing triple to right field to cash in three RBIs. Lawrence, as well as Savanna Born, had two hits of S-E’s total 12 hits on the day.

S-E (2-0) hosts three straight games on Thursday, Friday, and Monday. S-E welcomes Cincinnatus this afternoon, weather permitting, at 4:30 p.m. and hosts Clinton on Friday at the same time.
