SHERBURNE — What better way to start the week than getting outside and exploring nature. Every Monday morning, the Friends of Rogers Ramblers walk along trails at Rogers Center and occasionally, at local off-site locations.

Friends of Rogers Environmental Educator Ellen Rathbone said the Rambles are open to walkers of any age, although they do understand a normal working day schedule can make it difficult to join. Rambles can take about an hour and a half, depending on the destination.

“Our Rambles are often at Rogers Center, exploring the different trails here in different seasons,” said Rathbone. “Trails offer up different delights from week to week, so we never know what we might find, even on trails we walk all the time.”

She said sometimes they do venture away from Rogers, like they did Monday of this week, when they went to the Leland Reserve in Hamilton.

“It was a wonderful walk,” said Rathbone. “We saw our first native spring wildflowers just starting to bloom, spring beauty, even on a cold and cloudy morning, as well as some beautiful scarlet cup fungi, which create a bold splash of bright red on the forest floor.”
