Norwich Baseball Drops To Waverly

WAVERLY – After playing on the road to start the season against Chenango Forks, the Norwich Purple Tornado baseball team headed to Waverly for the second game of the season. Norwich fell 18-1 in Thursday’s non-league match-up.

Norwich started the game strong with the lone run coming in the first inning. Zack Parker led off the inning with a walk on four pitches. He stole second base before being driven home by Zac Turner. Turner drilled a double to center for the RBI. Turner, Graham Burton, and Colin Olds all had the only hits for Norwich in the loss while Parker had two of the total four walks to reach base.

Graham Burton started on the mound, where he lasted two and a third innings with two strikeouts as Waverly had kicked things into high gear for the second and third inning. Carmine Pastore struck out one batter in his inning of work as Jackson Sastri finished the game and contributed with two strikeouts.

Norwich (0-2) heads to Owego Apalachin on Tuesday, April 2 at 11 a.m.
