NIAGARA FALLS – On February 25, Oxford student-athlete Nick Richette and his family traveled to Niagara Falls for the United States Powerlifting Association Winter Classic. Nick competed in the 15-year-old division for deadlift, where he shattered the old record of 403.5 lbs with an incredible 446 lb lift. Nick now holds the national record for his age and weight class and has qualified for the world competition in June.

Nick is also a member of the Oxford golf and track teams. The sophomore just completed the indoor track season, where he set a new personal record in the weight throw with a best throw of 29 feet, nine and 3/4 inches in December, finishing fourth. He also set a new personal best throw in shot put in December as well with a new throw of 30 feet, four and a half inches. At the Section IV, Class Championships, Nick ran a new best time of 7.42 seconds in the 55 meter dash. All achievements are close to record breaking for Oxford. Nick now prepares for the outdoor track and field season.
