NORWICH - Graduates or soon-to-be graduates of Norwich High School who need financial aid to help them continue their higher education may apply for scholarships available through The Greater Norwich Foundation.

The completion of one application will entitle the applicant to be considered for all The Greater Norwich Foundation scholarships with the exception of the Lee Law Scholarship.

Applications for the scholarships may be obtained from the Norwich High School Guidance Office with the exception of the Lee Law Scholarship, which can be acquired through the NBT Bank Wealth Management Division.

The deadline for applications is March 22.

Money is also available to help current high school students who are taking college-level or other accredited courses before completing high school.

Scholarships offered by the Foundation include the Clara Robbins Memorial Scholarships, the Marcia Stewart Memorial Scholarship, the Esther C. Flanagan Scholarship, the Thomas H. Ivory Scholarship, the H. William Smith Jr. Technical Scholarship, the Robert N. Endries Scholarship, the Edward J. Lee Law Scholarship, the John M Endries Scholarship and some additional unspecified grant money.

The Robbins Scholarship gives preference to applicants pursuing careers in medicine, nursing or the legal field.

The Stewart Scholarship, the Flanagan Scholarship, the Ivory Scholarship, and the Endries Scholarships have no career limitations.

The Lee Law Scholarship applicants must have received their bachelor’s degree and been accepted or presently attending law school to qualify.

The other grant money is primarily available to help current high school students take college-level or other accredited courses while still in high school. The committee encourages students to take advantage of the opportunities the school is offering to help them complete their scholarship applications and write their essays.

Although essays are not required, they are highly recommended to help support the candidate’s application.
