SYRACUSE - The Sherburne-Earlville swim team traveled back to Syracuse to compete in the Section III state qualifiers. S-E qualified as a team in both the 200 freestyle relay and in the 200 medley relay, while senior Amon Van Alst represented S-E individually in the butterfly and backstroke events.

Van Alst, Lydia Larchar, Parker McCracken, and Collin McGuire, who filled in for Ava Flanagan, swam in both team relays. The group finished the 200 medley relay in 2:07.73 seconds while they swam the 200 freestyle relay in 1:47. They dropped about three seconds in the freestyle relay, where everyone did their fastest split times.

Van Alst then went on to break another school record, this time in the backstroke. Amon broke the school record, which was previous held by Matt Ryan in 2019 with a time of 1:01.88. Van Alst swam the backstroke in a new best 1:00.91. After breaking the school record in the butterfly, he completed the event in 1:00.28 at state qualifiers.

Great job this season, S-E.
