ENDWELL – The Norwich Purple Tornado girls' basketball team wrapped up its 2023-2024 regular season against Maine-Endwell on Friday. Norwich, who have seen some challenging games to close out the season, dropped four-straight in the 57-43 deficit to M-E.

Norwich was stunned at how quick Maine-Endwell started off and tried to match efforts to be down 35-21 at halftime. Norwich was limited in both the first and third quarter, which allowed the Spartans to extend its lead. Norwich had one last go in the final eight minutes of play with some help offensively from Josey Ryan with six points and Olivia Schiraldi with four points in the last quarter, but couldn't catch up nor slow M-E down.

Josey Ryan and Brynley Ryan both tied with a team-high 10 points for the Purple Tornado. Brynley Ryan scored eight points with two three's before halftime. Emma Urgo had eight points while Olivia Schiraldi was held to just seven points and one three-pointer.

Norwich heads into sectionals, where they are in the Section IV, Class 'A' tournament, along with three familiar teams (Johnson City, Maine-Endwell, and Owego). Norwich heads to Johnson City for the semi-finals on February 27 at 6 p.m. Admission will be charged through GOFAN digital ticketing.
