OXFORD - Agriculture Education is alive and well in our local communities. All across Chenango, Broome, Delaware and Otsego Counties, FFA members are busy preparing for their upcoming Leadership Development Events.

It is a very exciting time in Agriculture Education. Most recently, Franklin and Cherry Valley-Springfield have chartered FFA chapters. The District 4 FFA Region consists of other Chapters from; Otselic Valley, Sherburne-Earlville, Oxford, Windsor, Franklin, Walton, Delaware Academy, Richfield Springs, Unadilla Valley, Afton, Bainbridge-Guilford and Sidney.

Members from these schools will be traveling to Oxford Academy on March 2, to participate in the District 4 Leadership Development Events.

We would love to showcase to our communities the hard work and dedication these students have put in for their prospective contests. Due to the number of new chapters and increased participation in these competitions, we need more judges than ever for District 4 members.

Leadership Development Events allow FFA members to practice their public speaking and leadership skills in a variety of contests. From Prepared Public Speaking to memorizing the FFA Creed, Parliamentary Procedure and career research projects in the People in Ag contest, members hone in on their soft skills as a part of these events.

Judging our FFA contests is very important for our members so they can get scored for advancing to the next level and an opportunity for them to get good feedback from you to help them grow. Each student gets a grading rubric for their presentation for you to use and scores are tallied after each competition. If you are interested in participating as a judge for us in Oxford, please use the QR Code to sign up. We will be in contact with you to orient you on the contest rules and grading guidelines. If you have questions, feel free to email rjohnson@oxac.org.
