SIDNEY – After defeating Candor in the final regular season game on Monday, the Bainbridge-Guilford Lady Bobcats traveled to Sidney for the MAC playoffs. It was a defensive battle for both teams, but Sidney was able to hold B-G in the fourth quarter to secure the tight 40-38 victory. Both teams also finished second in their respective MAC league divisions.

Both B-G and Sidney started out neck-and-neck before the Sabers went on a big run before halftime, limiting the Bobcats to five quarter points. Sidney led 21-13 at the break. B-G got a boost in the third quarter to shift things around, where they outscored their fierce opponent 19-5 in those eight minutes to take a 29-26 lead. With the game being dedicated in the final quarter, Sidney fired up like they had in the second quarter and held B-G in the very end.

While B-G kept up with Sidney and played tremendously on defense, they were quite limited offensively with three ladies contributing to the scoring. Peyton Umbra had her best game with 18 points, hitting a career-high six three-pointers and adding three assists and three steals. Johnna Henderson achieved yet another double-double with 14 points and 16 rebounds. Johnna posted six points as the team’s only efforts in the fourth quarter. Jayslin Henderson finished with six points, six rebounds, and had four steals in the loss.

B-G now awaits sectionals.
